This is a catch-all, catch-up post #2 to describe all the planning & preparation that's gone into getting prepared for the Camino. It's hard to believe that I'm starting my journey 1-week from today, when I hop on a plane for Paris on April 4th! Since I've done the hard work to be prepared, I'm ready to go and can't wait for my adventure to begin!
As most of you know, I was an accountant geek for most of my career, so I putting things down in spreadsheets is what I do, it's how I think. This is a skill that's helped me prepare for the Camino. Above are 2 key pieces of the preparation for my hike. Both of these have been a continual work in progress, and gone through hundreds of revisions!
Left side - my 'to do' list. All the tasks I've needed to get done, and things I've needed to buy/pack to be ready for my hike.
Right side - my planned daily itinerary, including daily distances (km + miles), towns/villages I'm staying in, and other notes of interest. All told……44 days of actual hiking; overnight stays in 48 different towns; staying 2 nights in 8 different towns to rest & explore; 58 days total from my April 4th departure until my May 31st return home! This is my plan for now - I'm certain things will change along the way, but I'm ready to be flexible!
